Special Interview with Canhão - Selo Nada Label - VK TRIO HOJE NO COSANOSTRA

Special Interview: Carlos "Canhão" BritoWho lives for more than 10 years in Belém (Capital of Para State, Brazil) and accompanies the scene of local independent music certainly has witnessed and confirmed the talent of drummer Carlos "Canhão" Brito, who was part of the classic band The Euterpia for 10 years. Now "Canhão", as it is known, lives in São Paulo (Brazil) and is working flawlessly and the bands: www.myspace.com / vktrio and www.myspace.com / custard. For anyone who was interested, there is the promise of some presentations in Belém in February. Enjoy this exclusive interview.
How is this time around in São Paulo?
Sid, a way of being a new beginning, but differently, because over time have gained some musical experience and know how to handle these things, keep calm and focus on why came to this city, they as "all" speak, has many opportunities, but also has a lot of competition and "fight" for space is very tight. Here has many schools of music and many musicians who have academic training, enabling them to another vision of music and develop a musical work with better quality. Here, in São Paulo, the demand for professionalism is very charged in some places outside the old story of the "pots" as is everywhere, finally ... (some say this is difficult to make friends that way, but "it is easier to win over a competitor," I heard this phrase from a friend once), but thank God I could do a few good friends, which enabled me to play and record with other musicians here and in other states, but are also currently living here, and how to live in a house with three other musicians (a bassoon and two percussionists, what motivates me to study more and more because who knows the house knows that it looks more like a music school, there's always someone playing an instrument), and through them I met musicians from various sections and had opportunities to play and record with some of them, which has been very good for my musical growth.
Currently, you are playing in two bands:www.myspace.com / vktrio and http://www.myspace.com/araticum. Talk about how each band is. And tell a little bit about the end of The Euterpia band.
Well, The Euterpia (Marisa Brito- Vocals/ Carlos Brito Jr.- Drums / Tom Salazarcano- Guitar / Antonio M ª Novaes-Acoustic guitar / Gilberto Cerantola-Bass), has already left Belém with a consolidated work in the city, recorded a CD ( "Revirando o Sotao"by Na Music) and with the exception of the theater of Peace played everywhere possible, of The Tidal Bore (in the middle of five brega bands) of the Park Igarapés (among four reggae bands) in festivals and other places, so I think we left on time. Unfortunately for various reasons the band broke up, no fights no arguments, it was only for personal reasons the band members remain friends and we always talked and cheered for each other so that all happy to follow in the ways that each one decided to follow.
The Vk-Trio (Formed by: Vadim Klokov- Piano / Carlos Brito Jr.- drums, Saulo Rodrigues-Fretless Bass) began the meeting with Vadim Klokov friend, who lived some 13 years in Belem, was bassoonist of OSTP and prof. Carlos Gomes Conservatory, and was here in SP releasing its CD (Jivelox, who left the Na Music), he was playing with samples, and after a few conversations we decided to build a trio, (to play the songs of it) that the principle Regis had his friend Patrick on bass, but went back to Belém pra take the bass chair of OSTP, and then Vadim met Saul, who is the current bassist, recorded a demo CD with four songs (rearrangements of songs from Vadim to the trio format), and we did a gig at a bar here on SP and other presentations are articulate and trying to play at some festival of instrumental music, and we look forward to playing Baiacool Jazz, or other event in Belém.
The Araticum (formed by Bruno Duarte -Vibraphone and Percussion / Carlos Brito Jr. Percussion and Vibraphone / Vadim Klokov- Fagote/ Duduk and Pan Flute and had Tom Salazarcano-Guitar, today replaced by David "Chocolate" who also plays "ukulele") everything happened like a natural process of musicians who live together (in case, me, Vadim and Bruno) and live music by exchanging information, and as always we are at home to make a silly sound, improvising general decided to organize and assemble a repertoire , ai call Tom Salazarcano to play guitar. the principle would we play "chorinho", but decided to expand the range and now we play every kind of music always trying to give a character of ethnic music, with touches of classical, compositions, and we are also playing their own compositions and have already begun to prepare the ground for some songs to record in early 2010.
What are the perspecitves in São Paulo?
Always with the intention of playing as much as possible, and bring our music to show on here or anywhere in the world. Show a little of what we do musically. What can you highlight the musical world from São Paulo?Dude, it is difficult to answer this question. As in other places, here is a lot of good, others less so and one other shit, new things I saw and liked has "Loungetude 46", "Vintena Brasileira", "Marilia Duarte", "Andréa Dias", and others who do not remember the name.
